The Inlet Inn Events Guide: Mardi Gras in Beaufort
February 20-21, 2026
Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler... Beaufort Style!
A Note from the General Manager:
“If you think Mardi Gras is only for New Orleans, you haven’t met the ‘Krewe of the Seahorse.’ This is one of the most joyful, quirky, and beloved weekends of the year. The town lets its hair down, the costumes are outrageous, and because it’s the off-season, you get to experience the real community spirit of Beaufort without the summer crowds.“
Mardi Gras Parade
The highlight of the weekend is the Saturday parade. It isn’t a massive corporate spectacle; it is a display of local creativity and humor.
- The Route: The parade winds through downtown, but the best viewing is right along Front Street.
- The Inlet Inn Advantage: Since we are located directly on the parade route, you don’t have to stake out a spot hours in advance. You can watch the floats, the drum lines, and the costumed dogs march by right from the comfort of our front porch or your balcony.
The Masquerade Ball
For guests who want to dress up, the annual Masquerade Ball is the ticket to get.
- What to Expect: Live music, dancing, and a sea of masks. It usually takes place at a venue within walking distance or a short drive from the Inn.
- Tickets: These sell out fast. If you are booking your room for Mardi Gras weekend, check the “Krewe of the Seahorse” website immediately for ball tickets.
The "Culinary Carnival"
During Mardi Gras weekend, many local restaurants on Front Street get into the spirit with Cajun-inspired specials.
- What to Look For: Jambalaya, gumbo, and King Cake martinis.
- Pro Tip: Head to the “Sinner’s Breakfast” on Sunday morning (often hosted by local spots) to recover from the festivities before you check out.
